About Dai
Dai qualified as an Alexander Technique teacher in 2012, following three years
of full-time training at the Brighton Alexander Technique College with Carolyn Nicholls.
He came to the Technique through personal experience. At 40, despite being very
active, he describes himself as having been an “athletic cripple” — struggling
with serious back and neck pain and facing the possibility of a hip replacement.
A stressful City job, long hours at a computer and plenty of strenuous exercise
were taking their toll.
Dai began Alexander lessons in 2000 and quickly discovered how much of his pain
was associated with unnecessary tension and the way he was using himself.
More than twenty-five years later, he is largely pain-free and still runs,
dances, kayaks, stands on a slackline and generally enjoys moving freely.
Drawing on this experience and more than 30 years of coaching, Dai enjoys helping
others discover how they too can move with greater freedom, less pain and a little
more ease.
